April 2017 Pregnant herd of 9 does
October 2016 Slide Show
We started our Nigerian Dwarf goat herd in 2010 with 4 doelings, from 2 different breeders. We closed our herd and are up to 9 does today.
This was the breeding schedule: (as of 11/29/16)
Dec. 2016 (babies in May 2017)
4 non-registered polled does (Baby Ruth, Vanilla, Tea, Tootsie) with Hotshot (disbudded buck)
Jan. 2017 (babies in June 2017)
4 registered disbudded does (Patches, Poppy, B.W., Jasmine) with Hazelnut (registered polled blue eyed buckling - 9 mo. old)
Feb. 2017 (babies in July 2017)
1 registered polled doe (Dancer) with Hotshot (registered disbudded buck)
We try to always breed polled and horned/disbudded together for 50% chance of polled offspring. This breeding season we will determine if one non-registered buckling is pure polled (homozygous polled). We have been attempting from the start to produce a registered pure polled buck. One day we will be successful !
All our registered does are NDGA registered. Two original does are dual AGS registered, so many (her offspring and another original doe) can be AGS registered (and therefore ADGA registered). We do have a few non-registered does, only because they were too cute to pass up in our starter herd ! 2 of our bucks dual registered as well (others can be). 1 is with AGS, the other with ADGA.
